5-year-old Huntsville boy hit by car

A small child is recovering in the hospital tonight after being hit by a car.

It happened around 6pm on Wynterhall Road in South Huntsville.

Police say the 5-year-old boy didn't see the car coming and ran into the street, hitting the side of the car. HPD tells us had the boy run into the road a second or two earlier, he would have been hit head on.

He was taken from the scene by ambulance with minor injuries.

No charges will be filed.
