Reader Digest campaign stops in Huntsville

Reader Digest campaign stops in Huntsville

The city of Huntsville got a small surprise this morning from a popular publication.

Reader's Digest was in town, making a stop on their 100 cities, 100 days RV tour. The magazine presented city manager, Rex Reynolds with a $1,000 check.

Reader's Digest Representatives said they have more than 150 million readers that subscribe to their magazine.

Huntsville was chosen by Reader’s Digest because the town is home to the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center featured in the best-selling and recently updated Reader’s Digest book Off the Beaten Path.

One of our viewers saw these bins in the parking lot of Star Market on Bailey Cove this morning.  The bins are for Green Mountain Glass.  The viewer says they do all sorts of stuff with recycled glass, including using it as mulch at the Huntsville Botanical Garden.  Their facility is up on Meridian Street, above Alabama A&M University.  The viewer says : "at least someone’s doing something with glass, since the City of Huntsville’s recycling program doesn’t take it."
