National youth involvement month | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Since the founding of the Junior Red Cross in 1917, youth have played an active and important role at the American Red Cross. Today, over 400 youth volunteers are involved locally, teaching fire safety to young children, serving in high school clubs, promoting blood drives, supporting community projects and raising funds to support their mission services of Disaster Relief and Service to the Armed Forces. During the months of November and December, American Red Cross Youth Volunteers will conduct or participate in the following events:
- Operation Stand Down – Saturday, November 13 from 8 am – 4 pm at Joe Davis Stadium
- Youth Committee Meeting – Sunday, November 14 at 2 pm at 1101 Washington Street
- Veterans Gift Wrap – Sunday, December 5 at 2 pm at 1101 Washington Street
- Veterans Visit with Santa – Wednesday, December 15 at 4 pm at Tut Fann Nursing Home
On behalf of the North Alabama and Tennessee Valley Region, we take this opportunity to recognize and honor the tremendous contribution the Red Cross Youth have made, and continue to make, to the organization and our communities, through their compassion, courage, service and dedication.
