Rocket City Rowing Club will host the annual Hobbs Island Regatta here in Huntsville on our own Tennessee River Saturday, October 16th. Rowing teams, or Crews, from around the Southeast and beyond will travel to Huntsville to race for their college, youth, and adult teams. Over 100 racing shells are entered and will bring throngs of rowers, coaches, parents, and spectators to the banks of the Tennessee River along Hobbs Island Road.
Collegiate teams competing in this year’s Hobbs Island Regatta include University of Alabama, Auburn University, Berry College, Louisiana State University, University of Tennessee, Tulane University, University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, and Vanderbilt University. Competing youth teams include East Tennessee Rowing Organization, Lake Guntersville Rowing Club, and Louisville Rowing Club. Competing adult teams include Atlanta Rowing Club, Nashville Rowing Club, and Rome Rowing Club. Huntsville’s own Rocket City Rowing Club will be competing in both youth and adult events while the University of Alabama in Huntsville team will be competing in collegiate events.
