Madison County man to receive Congressional Gold Medal
A Madison County man will receive the Congressional Gold Medal this Saturday.
The ceremony honoring CPL Raymond J. Williams will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Battery K, 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, USMCR on South Memorial Parkway.
CPL Williams served from 1946-1949 with the Montford Point Marines.
He's being recognized “For Outstanding Perseverance and Courage that Inspired Social Change in the Marine Corps”, and his service during World War II, as a Heavy Anti-Aircraft Gun Crewman.
