Toys for Tots registration open

Because every child deserves a little Christmas, Toys for Tots is taking registrations this week. 

Registration will be held through October 21st at the Toys for Tots Warehouse, 9032 F Memorial Parkway (Old Goody's).

Belk's fall charity sale

Belk will hold its semi-annual charity sale that will benefit participating area schools and non-profits on Saturday, November 6th from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Participating charities have the opportunity to raise money for their organization while ticket holders receive 20 to 70% off Belk purchases storewide, including rarely-discounted brands.

Special Olympics Track and Field Events

On October 19, 2010 (rain date October 21, 2010), over 300 special athletes from the Madison County area will meet at Milton Frank Stadium to participate in the 43nd Annual Special Olympics Track and Field Events. The Opening Ceremonies begin at 9:30am and the games conclude at 1:30pm.

Football Blood Drive

LifeSouth and Huntsville City Schools are hosting a Football Blood Drive, Friday nights in October (15th, 22nd, & 29th) at Milton Frank Stadium.  The LifeSouth Blood Mobile will be at the stadium from 6pm to 9pm. Come and help support high school athletics and roll up your sleeves for a good cause.

Last Chance to sign up For the 7th Annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run

Saturday, October 16th is the 7th annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run.  The men's 5K starts at 8am, the women's 5K at 9, and the survivors walk at 10am.  You can find the map and all the details on the ribbon run by clicking here.  The final chance for registration is tonight at Huntsville Middle School from 5 to 7pm.  There will be a spaghetti supper for registered participants, a memorial, and a tribute luminary display.  We hope you'll join tonight and tomorrow.

Astronomy Day

Von Braun Astronomical Society is celebrating Astronomy Day on Saturday, October 16th.  The event will be held at the facility inside Monte Sano State Park from 2:00-6:00 pm.  There will be outdoor activities for children, solar telescope viewing and other telescopes on display. 

Team Established for a Woman Battling Breast Cancer

Twickenham Church has established a team for the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run.  It's the biggest team for the run and the 2nd largest fundraiser called “Team Cristina”.  Cristina Boudah was recently diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer.  She and her husband Donald have 5 children ages 16 to 4 months.  The group is having a team dinner tonight at Twickenham Church and are expecting 175 people!
