Huntsville Hospital Foundation's first annual Heart Shots Exhibition and Clinic will feature tennis legend Jim Courier. Courier won four Grand Slam singles titles, holds the record for being the youngest person to have reached the finals of all four Grand Slam singles tournaments and also won five Masters 1000 series titles. He was recently named Captain of the 2011 U.S. Davis Cup team.

Representative Laura Hall, in conjunction with the Arthritis Foundation and Women in Government present an educational rheumatoid forum.

The event will be held February 14th from 11am -1pm at the Richard Showers Center at 4600 Blue Spring Road in Huntsville.

Speakers will be: Rep. Laura Hall of the House of Representatives, Dr. William Shergy, Rheumatologist and Corneilia Burston-Orr, Arthritis Foundation exercise leader.

American Red Cross needs your help

American Red Cross officials throughout our nation prepare to respond to the destructive winter storm that is bearing down on our country.

Mary Moreillon, Regional Executive Director, states, "Those of us who live in the South may not be at a direct risk of this weather front, however the impact of recent local snowstorms are still fresh on our minds.  We take this opportunity to highlight the work being done across the country to help other communities remain safe. Now is the time for our residents to take action to ensure their families are prepared for home fires and other disasters.

Hope for autism gala 2011 will be held Saturday, February 12th at the Jackson Center in Huntsville.

Live music will be provided by Madison Jazz and the master of ceremonies will be Scott McLain.

Crestwood Medical Center will be conducting free cholesterol, glucose and vein screenings.  There will also be a wide variety of vendors on site.  There will be prize drawings and a scavenger hunt for the kids.  Other activities include free fitness classes that you can participate in such as; body pump, body attack, & zumba.

The phrase "heredity loads the gun but lifestyle pulls the trigger," refers to the lethal combination of inactive lifestyle plus a diet rich in high fat foods equals obesity on a massive scale.  It is also the topic of a University of Alabama in Huntsville Honors Forum lecture next month.

"Heredity Loads the Gun but Lifestyle Pulls the Trigger," will be presented by Draunta "Dee" Nicovich, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. in Frank Franz Hall, room 138. The talk sponsored by the UAHuntsville Honors Program is free and open to the public.
