HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Gay-rights activists turned out Saturday to peacefully protest Chick-fil-A.
More than a dozen protesters showed up outside the Chick-fil-A in South Huntsville to exercise their right to free speech.
President of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy, recently came under fire for openly expressing his opposition to gay marriage.
Demonstrators said they wanted to throw a different message out there, one of love and equality for all Americans.
"We don't expect the people inside Chick-fil-A to look outside at these 20 people let's just change our mind," said protestor Allie Glover. "We don't expect that, but we do want some awareness to be raised and people to get a different mindset is all."
Supporters on both sides held events this week.
The "Same Sex Kiss In" was held Friday and the Chick-fil-A appreciation day was held Wednesday. Officials said they set a sales record that day.
