HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Huntsville Police arrested the person in the recent purse snatchings at local malls.
Officers arrested 29-year-old Jacob Bastiaans. According to investigators, since August 26th there have been nine reports of purse snatchings.
Police arrested Bastianns after they received a call about a purse snatching outside of Costco on Memorial Parkway Saturday afternoon.
The victim was exiting the store and was walking to her vehicle in the parking-lot. The victim noticed a silver vehicle driving slowly behind her. She said a someone reached from the passenger side window and snatched her purse from her shoulder and sped away. Officers used surveillance video from the store to get a description of the vehicle.
Officers spotted the vehicle during a traffic stop and arrested Bastiaans on the scene.
He was charged with five counts of robbery and four counts of theft of property for all nine of the purse snatchings.
He was booked in the Metro Jail without bond.
