HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- A Madison County Judge has ruled portions of Jacob Shaffer's
confession will not be admissible during his trial in Madison County.
Shaffer pleaded guilty to killing five people in
Tennessee. He's accused of killing Sidney Dempsey the same day in Huntsville.
Defense attorneys said Shaffer's request for an attorney were
ignored by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, a Huntsville Police
Investigator, and a Madison County Sheriff's Investigator.
The statements Shaffer made to the TBI, HPD, and the Madison
County Sheriff's Office will not be allowed during trial. Statements Shaffer
made to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy who first arrived on the scene will
be admissible as evidence during his trial in Madison County.
That trial is scheduled for October 29th.
