Huntsville connects 5 new community centers with WiFi
News

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Local
students and residents have more places to connect to the Internet, which means
more places to study with their new laptops.

Huntsville
City will provide free WiFi to five community centers: Cavalry Hill
Community Center, Westside Community Center, Lakewood Community Center, Dr.
Richard Showers Sr. Recreation Center and Brahan Spring Recreation Center.

The city spent about $14,000 hooking the centers up to the
connection.

This
is part of Huntsville's partnership with Huntsville City Schools. This access
will help students and families needing Internet for homework.

"A
lot of kids when they go home they may not have Wifi access to their house, but
they could always come here the rec center, they could come to the ball park, a
lot of places in the city that you have Wifi access and they could use it
throughout the evening or whenever they need to study," said Mayor Tommy
Battle.

The
centers will remain open until 9 p.m. on weekdays.
