Ala. facilities linked to company responsible for meningitis outbreak
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Alabama health officials now say the steroid shots responsible for the meningitis outbreak has made it to Alabama.
New England Compounding Center voluntarily recalled all of its products pending results from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's investigation.
Health officers discovered 10 facilities used the pharmacy involved.
At this time, it is not known where those facilities are located, but the facilities have pulled the medication.
Alabama residents who have had an epidural steroid injection since May 21, 2012 and have any of the following symptoms, should talk to their doctor as soon as possible:
- New or worsening headache
- Fever
- Sensitivity to light
- Stiff neck
- New weakness or numbness in any part of your body
- Slurred speech
- Increased pain, redness or swelling at your injection site
