MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- Folks in Madison County got a hands-on demonstration from Project Lifesaver Wednesday afternoon.
The Madison County Sheriff's Department was showing off the technology at the Senior Center on Drake Avenue.
Project Lifesaver focuses on people with conditions like Alzheimer's, dementia, or autism who may wander from home.
People are given special bracelets. If they go missing, law enforcement can then find them by activating Project Lifesaver equipment.
Best of all, in Madison County, it's free.
"For the citizens of Madison County, we do not charge anything. The actual program is funded through the Pilot's Club of Huntsville through grants and donations to people to help fund the program," said Sgt. Greg Free with the Madison County Sheriff's Department.
If you want a Project Lifesaver bracelet, call the Madison County Sheriff's Department, and ask for Sgt. Greg Free.
