Huntsville Utilities to send crews for recovery efforts | News
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Huntsville Utilities crews are already pitching in to help restore power in the northeast as remnants of superstorm Sandy chug through the east coast.
The utility company expected to send three crews to provide relief efforts Tuesday morning but plans have since been delayed until storm damage is fully assessed.
Huntsville Utilities spokesperson Bill Yell said they will send two, three-person bucket crews and one three-person pole-setting crew.
An exact location is still being determined, Yell said.
Huntsville Utilities officials are in contact with electric utility organizations to coordinate what they call a "large-scale restoration" effort.
More than 7 million people remain without power as of Tuesday morning. Officials said it could take at least one week to fully restore power.
