News

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- A local amendment in Madison County dealing with the handling of dangerous dogs passed with a comfortable majority.

Local amendment 1 passed with 75 percent of the vote.

The amendment gives the county commission more power to deal with dangerous dogs. Officials can now destroy a dangerous dog or return it to its owner if they feel it is being restrained properly.

Dog owners who do not follow the law will be responsible for all costs associated with an incident.

Animal rights groups said they do not object the amendment.
