HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Alabama state troopers stopped by Huntsville Hospital Thursday morning for a special surprise.
Children recovering in the hospital received a brand-new teddy bear for the holidays.
Troopers brought a big bag filled with dozens of bears for the deserving kids.
They've been surprising children with the toy for years.
Trooper Curtis Summerville said it never gets old.
"We anticipate it every year: coming, talking to the children, seeing smiles on their faces and actually seeing a trooper giving them a teddy bear," he said.
Donations to the Alabama State Trooper Association help buy the teddy bears.
Troopers also keep bears in their patrol cars, year round, to give to scared children going through a traumatic event - such as a car accident.
