HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- A town
hall meeting Monday night allowed parents a chance to discuss plans for the new
Grissom High School.
Grissom
High is on Bailey Cove Road, but in just a few years, the school could move to
a new address.
Ideas for
new locations in South Huntsville were discussed at Monday night's meeting.
Dr. Casey
Wardynski said they were considering four spots for the school's new location;
now they are down to two, one of them being a 60-acre site on Weatherly Road.
Another
option is to keep Grissom High where it is right now, and do a re-build, but
school officials said that plan would cost an extra $4-million, not to mention
moving around students during construction.
All of
these ideas are only proposals at this point. Wardynski hopes to have a
recommendation for the board in four weeks. He said he will be looking at
questions from parents on how the decision will be carried out.
School
officials have presented numbers that show Grissom High has the most students
in one of the smallest campuses in Huntsville.
