Future City Competition brings together budding engineers | News
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Some local students competed in the Future City Competition at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Saturday.
The goal of the event was to design clean solutions to manage storm water pollution.
The sixth through eighth graders worked in teams to construct the cities in large table-top models as part of National Engineers Week.
"It was really interesting to learn how we can actually make the water clean. It'd be cool to see that some day in real life," said competitor Cody Holland.
"Future City helps to spur innovation and creativity, and encourages science, technology, engineering and math skills for all the competitors," said Paul Agarwal with Colsa Corporation.
The winning team, The Academy for Science and Foreign Language will go to Virginia to compete against 36 other regions in the national finals next month.
