HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Martin Luther King Jr. Day is set aside to honor the civil rights leader's legacy.

In Huntsville, more than 1,000 guests gathered for the annual unity breakfast at the Von Braun Center Monday morning.

They enjoyed a musical performance in addition to special guest speakers.

They didn't miss out on the inauguration ceremony. Projector screens showed President Obama's inauguration during the breakfast too.

"If I could quote my mother, Dr. King is smiling from up above because all the things that he hoped for are coming to fruition today," said one attendee.

This is the Delta Theta Lambda chapter's 28th year in hosting the unity breakfast.
